Willard Losinger performing "The Long Peggin' Awl" with Baritone Ukulele accompaniment 2015-06-01
This is an English folk song, from Peter Kennedy's book "Folksongs of Britain and Ireland." An alternative set of chords are available here: http://www.traditionalmusic.co.uk/bawdy-songs/006236.HTM This is not to be confused with the popular American song "Peg and Awl" or "Peg and Awl." In the present song, I can't quite figure out why the pretty fair maid should be so fascinated with a pegging awl--it must be serving a metaphor of some sort for something else. Or, perhaps there is some sort of homonym going on here, for rhetorical effect.
